The Graco SlimFit is the 3-in-1 I recommend most to families who need to fit multiple car seats in one row. The rotating cup holders fold inward to reduce the seat’s width by about 10%, and the overall design is noticeably slimmer than the Graco 4Ever. I’ve fitted three SlimFits across the back seat of a Honda Accord — tight, but it works. The installation process is identical to other Graco convertibles if you’ve used one before, but the narrower frame means paying extra attention to belt path routing. This guide covers all three modes plus adjustments and cleaning.

Rear-Facing Installation with LATCH (5–40 lbs)
- Release the LATCH connectors from storage (press the red buttons). Confirm the strap routes through the rear-facing belt path (blue label).
- Set the recline using the handle at the front of the seat. Use a more reclined position for younger babies.
- Place the seat rear-facing with at least 80% of the base on the vehicle seat.
- Check the level indicator — the ball should sit completely in the blue zone. For babies under 3 months, the ball must fully cover the light blue circle. Make sure your vehicle is on level ground.
- Extend the LATCH strap to full length, connect both hooks to the lower anchors (no twists), then press down firmly while tightening.
- Test for less than one inch of movement at the belt path.
- Recheck the level indicator. Use rolled towels at the seat crease to adjust the angle if needed.
Rear-Facing Installation with Seat Belt
- Store the LATCH connectors out of the way on the plastic bars.
- Set recline and place the seat rear-facing with 80% of the base on the vehicle seat.
- Route the seat belt through the rear-facing belt path (blue label). Belt must be flat, untwisted, and in front of the buckle strap.
- Buckle and pull the shoulder belt all the way out to engage locking mode (listen for the click).
- Press down firmly while feeding slack back into the retractor.
- Test for less than one inch of movement. Check the level indicator.
Forward-Facing Installation with LATCH + Tether (22–65 lbs)
- Release LATCH connectors and confirm the strap is in the forward-facing belt path (orange label).
- Unhook the top tether from storage.
- Set the seat upright (positions 4–6) and place forward-facing with 80% of the base on the vehicle seat.
- Connect LATCH hooks to lower anchors and tighten while pressing down firmly.
- Attach the top tether to your vehicle’s tether anchor and tighten.
- Test for less than one inch of movement at the belt path.
Forward-Facing Installation with Seat Belt + Tether
- Store LATCH connectors. Route the seat belt through the forward-facing belt path (orange label).
- Buckle, engage locking mode, press down while removing slack.
- Always attach and tighten the top tether for forward-facing, regardless of which bottom method you use.
- Test for less than one inch of movement.
Highback Booster Mode (40–100 lbs)
Remove the harness straps and buckle assembly following the owner’s manual instructions. Set the seat upright in the vehicle. The child sits directly in the seat and uses the vehicle seat belt — lap belt low across the hips, shoulder belt across the middle of the chest and shoulder. Use the built-in belt guides to route the belt correctly. The top of the child’s ears should not extend above the headrest.
Important Notes
Never use LATCH and the seat belt together — the seat is designed for one method at a time. Always use the top tether for any forward-facing installation. Replace the seat after any crash, even a minor one.
Key Adjustments
Harness Height (No-Rethread)
The SlimFit has a no-rethread harness that adjusts with the headrest. Squeeze the adjustment handle at the back and slide up or down. Rear-facing: straps at or below shoulders. Forward-facing: straps at or above shoulders.
Loosening and Tightening the Harness
To loosen, lift the harness release lever while pulling the shoulder straps outward. To tighten, pull the adjustment strap at the front. The harness is snug when you can’t pinch excess webbing at the shoulder.
Rotating Cup Holders
The SlimFit’s signature feature: the cup holders rotate inward to reduce the seat’s width when you need maximum space. Swivel them outward when your child needs a drink. This is what makes the SlimFit work for 3-across installations where other seats won’t fit.
Crotch Buckle Position
Recline the seat, locate the metal retainer underneath, rotate and push it up through the shell, pull the buckle out, and reinsert in the new slot. Pull from underneath to confirm it’s secure.
Recline Positions
Use more reclined positions (1–4) for rear-facing and more upright positions (4–6) for forward-facing. Pull the handle at the front to adjust.
Cleaning Instructions
Harness Straps
Surface wash only with mild soap and a damp cloth. Never submerge or machine wash — this weakens the webbing.
Buckle
Remove the buckle, place in warm water (no soap), press the red button several times, shake out water, and air dry completely.
Seat Covers
Spot clean with damp sponge and mild soap. For deeper cleaning, remove and machine wash in cold water on delicate cycle. Drip dry only — no bleach, no machine drying.
Cup Holders and Plastic
Wipe with damp cloth and mild soap.
