The Clek Foonf is a popular car seat that significantly enhances your child’s safety when situated in the car while you drive. This tutorial will help you understand how to best handle and troubleshoot your Clek Foonf.
Clek Foonf Installation Instructions
While installing, ensure you review the Foonf’s latch limits.
1. Clek Foonf forward-facing installation
The Clek Foonf forward configuration is done in three ways; using the latch only, using the seatbelt, and using the latch with the seatbelt combination. The latch and vehicle belt installation is used in combination for children weighing 22-65 lb. The latch installation works only for children weighing 22-35 lb.
To install the foonf forward-facing, ensure the anti-rebound and rear base are detached from the clek foonf, and the seat is in an upright position. To use a latch only installation for forward-facing;
- 1Loosen the top tether found at the back of your foonf. Place it out of your way so that it does not interrupt you as you continue the installation.
- 2Extend the firm latch connectors at the back of your foonf by pulling on the lower black lever at the front and simultaneously pulling out the latch connectors from the backside. Attach the connectors to the anchors. The indicator window on the latches should turn green if the latches are secure.
- 3While pulling the same lower black lever again, push the foonf in until the back touches your car seat.
- 4Lastly, tighten your top tether.

To install using the vehicle belt alone:

- 2Remove your top tether and adjust it from the back storage and route it to the rear anchor
- 3Using the recline adjustment button, rotate your seat to the desired recline position and release it to lock its position
- 4Open the forward-facing lock-offs on the same side your vehicle seat belt is coming out of by rotating the lock tab down and pulling forward to open the other piece.
- 5Route the vehicle belt by passing it over the top of the back metal support bars and buckle it.
- 6Check to ensure the shoulder portion is inside the forward-facing lock-off. Tighten the belt and close the lock off.
- 7Shake the seat to confirm if it has been mounted firmly.

2. Clek Foonf rear-facing installation
For rear-facing installations, use the rear base and the anti-rebound bar to increase your child's safety. The bar increases the stability of the foonf by preventing side rocking and a rearward rotation in case of impact.
To add the rear base:
- 1Keep your foonf face down on a flat surface. Take the base or wedge and align the two wide and two narrowly spaced tabs to their respective openings on the bottom of the base.
- 2Slide the tabs into the correct holes and push the wedge down until you hear a click.
- 3Gently tug the base to confirm that it is tightly attached.
After attaching the base, we now attach the anti-rebound bar:
- 1Remove the seat pad or seat cushion by pushing on the black locking levers on each side of the top front part.
- 2Remove the latch connectors from their storage pockets.
- 3Recline the foonf to its farthest position.
- 4Align your anti-rebound bar, align it with the respective holes under the seat, and slide the bar into position.
- 5Lock it in place with the bolt and cotter pins.
- 6Store away the latch connectors and replace the seat pad to its original position.
To remove the anti-rebound bar,
- 1Recline the seat as far back as possible using the upper black lever. Pull the lever forward and pull the seat outwards.
- 2Remove the seat pad by pressing the black tabs at the front underside of the seat pad.
- 3Remove the latch clips to access the bolt and cotter pins.
- 4Slide off the pins, and the anti-rebound bar should come off the guides easily.
- 5Replace the latch clips and the seat pads. Pull the upper black lever and push the foonf inside to return it to its upright position.
To install the Clek Foonf rear-facing, we can use latch or seat belt configurations.
For seatbelt rear-facing installation:
- 1Recline the set as far back as possible and place the Clek Foonf on the vehicle seat. Ensure you’re parked on a flat surface. The ground level should be within the blue indicator level on the side designated for your child’s age.
- 2Remove the seat pad by pressing up on the black tabs and unthreading the crotch strap.
- 3Unfold the lock-offs found on the sides of the seat pad rest.
- 4Thread the seatbelt through the rear-facing belt path. The belt should be positioned under the two tabs located between each lock-off. Ensure you use your weight on the car seat to get the tightest installation possible. Don’t release the tension of the belt on one exit side.
- 5Fold the Lock-offs into position on top of the belt and release the tension of the belt.
- 6Check for proper installation by shaking the seat forwards and backward and side to side in the belt path. Your clek foonf should not budge more than one inch.
- 7Check for proper installation by shaking the seat forwards and backward and side to side in the belt path. Your clek foonf should not budge more than one inch.
