Car seats are a must and finding the right car seat for your child can be difficult. It is important that after you have chosen a brand and a seat, that you take the time to do the proper research to learn how to install and maintain your car seat to make sure it is safe for your child. The Evenflo Tribute is a fantastic car seat that can help keep your child safe.
Can You Install Evenflo Tribute without a Latch?
When you are installing a car seat it is always best to use any available anchors or latches that you can to make sure that it is as secure as possible. That being said, if you do not have extra anchors, if the latch strap is damaged, or if you are dealing with strap issues, you can install without the belts and straps that are typically included. You can use the seatbelt that is in the car to install your car seat if you are not able to get the latches and belts.
When using a seatbelt to fasten or secure your car seat, it is going to be safest when the seat is forward facing but if you must secure it with the seatbelt while it is rear facing, it can be done. It is important that no matter how you install your car seat, you take the time to make sure that it is well secured and that there are not issues with the belt.
How to Install an Evenflo Tribute Car Seat in the Rear Facing Position
When installing a rear facing car seat you need to first choose the best position or the best location with in the car to install. With any car seat, it is always going to be best to install your seat in the center of the car in the back seat. This means that you should install the car seat in the back seat, in the center seat. This helps to put as much distance between your child and the exterior of the car as possible. This also helps to increase the space between your child and the frame of the car if there is an accident and the car is hit or the car crumples in.
The first step to installation is going to be choosing where you are going to install your seat. If you are installing using the seat belt, you must choose a seat that has a belt that locks, this will prevent the seat from moving around or from changing position. After you choose the place you want to install, your seat, you need to look at the seat itself. There will be two open spaces at the back of the seat, one used for rear facing installation and one used for front facing installation. The rear facing installation space is going to be at the bottom of the seat, near the space where the seat curves.
Once you locate the space for the position that you are going to install, you will take the strap that comes with the seat and thread it through the space. All new cars come with what are referred to as car seat anchors where you can attach the straps. The strap that comes with the seat is going to have two hooks that you will then attach to the anchors on either side of the seat. You then want to hold the seat down and tighten the strap to the point that the seat does not move and does not wobble. The rear facing height and weight requirements for the Evenflo Tribute seat are infants from 5lbs to 30 lbs and 19 inches to 37 inches tall.

How to Install an Evenflo Tribute Car Seat Forward Facing
Installation of an Evenflo seat front facing is not much different than it would be to install one rear facing. You again, want to choose the right position for your front facing car seat. Though you can install them on the side seats in the back, the center seat is always the best. No matter where you are installing your seat, you again want to make sure that it is in the best position possible.
Looking again at the back of the seat, there will be two separate openings where you can put the straps. The opening for forward facing seats is on the center of the seat back. This position is going to keep the seat in place and is going to keep the seat back against the back of the car seat to make sure that the seat is going to stay put.
With a forward-facing seat you do not want to move your child to a front facing seat until they meet both the weight and the height requirement of the seat. This is important as the weight helps to keep the seat in place and the height requirement helps ensure that the belt is going to be in the proper place on the child. Forward facing seats are a great thing, they allow your child more room to move around and they are often easier to strap a child into, that being said, you again want to make sure your child meets all the requirements of the seat you are using before you turn their seat forward.
The front facing requirements for weight are 22lbs to 40lbs or 28 inches tall to 40 inches tall.
