The Clek Fllo is a premium convertible car seat with some unique installation quirks that differ from most other seats. After installing the Fllo in multiple vehicles, I’ve learned that the anti-rebound bar and recline system require more attention to detail than a typical convertible seat. This guide covers the key installation steps, adjustments, and cleaning instructions you’ll need.

Before You Install: Headrest Assembly
The Fllo ships with the headrest detached from the seat body. You must attach the headrest before placing your child in the seat — never use the Fllo without it. Use the included tool and follow the owner’s manual instructions for attachment. Clek also provides video tutorials on preparing your Fllo before installation.
Rear-Facing Installation
The AAP recommends keeping children rear-facing as long as possible, and all children under 22 lbs or under 1 year old must be rear-facing. For the Fllo specifically, rear-facing installation requires attention to the recline angle and anti-rebound bar positioning.
Place the seat in the back seat facing the rear of the vehicle. Route the vehicle’s lap and shoulder belt through the appropriate belt path slots on the Fllo, then buckle and tighten. The key step most parents struggle with is getting the recline angle right — the anti-rebound bar acts as both a safety feature and a recline adjustment tool.
To increase the recline angle, adjust the position using the anti-rebound bar, then press on the back of the seat cushion as you tighten the LATCH belt. A small gap between the recline foot and vehicle seat is acceptable per the manual. If you need additional angle adjustment, use a tightly rolled towel under the base (Clek specifically advises against pool noodles, as they can make the installation unstable).
To decrease the recline angle, adjust the seat back to a more upright position using the anti-rebound bar. Press down on the front edge of the seat cushion as you tighten. Make sure the angled base area has full contact with the vehicle seat with no overhang.
When securing your child rear-facing, make sure there’s at least 1 inch of space between the top of your child’s head and the top of the headrest. Adjust the shoulder harness straps to sit at or just below your child’s shoulders. Thread the crotch strap through the inner crotch strap slot.
Forward-Facing Installation
Only transition to forward-facing when your child meets both the weight and height requirements in the owner’s manual and is at least 1 year old (though I recommend rear-facing as long as the seat allows).
Place the seat facing the front of the vehicle in the back seat. Route the seat belt through the forward-facing belt path slots, buckle, and tighten until there’s less than 1 inch of movement at the belt path. Attach the top tether to the vehicle’s tether anchor and tighten.
When securing your child forward-facing, make sure the tops of their ears are below the top of the headrest. If their ears are above the headrest at the highest adjustment position, your child has outgrown the Fllo. Adjust the shoulder straps to sit at or just above the shoulders in forward-facing mode, and buckle the crotch strap.
Cleaning the Clek Fllo
The Fllo’s premium fabrics require a specific cleaning approach. For spot cleaning, mix a small amount of mild detergent with water in a spray bottle, spray the affected area, and scrub with a soft brush working from the outside toward the center. Let the solution sit for about a minute, then rinse with a clean wet towel and pat dry. Clek also sells a dedicated cleaning kit designed for their fabrics.
You generally don’t need to remove the seat back cover unless it’s heavily soiled. If removal is necessary, follow the detailed instructions in your owner’s manual carefully — the Fllo’s cover removal process is more involved than most car seats.
